TikTok and Reels ideas for independent car dealers

Short video ideas that help small car dealers reach local buyers without paying for ads.

The short answer

Quick walkarounds of new arrivals, handover moments with happy buyers, a car under a set budget and behind the scenes prep videos work well. Keep them short, real and posted regularly.

Build a plan around useful questions

Gather the questions people ask before they contact the business, then turn those into a manageable content plan. Mix practical answers with genuine introductions and examples of your work. Give each post a purpose rather than publishing because the calendar has an empty slot. Keep offers, prices and availability accurate. Use a clear next step when one is relevant and link to a page that answers the remaining questions. A smaller schedule that staff can maintain is better than an ambitious plan that stops after a week. Review the plan when repeated questions or services change.

Check the stock and finance information together

Vehicle details should match the current stock record, including price, mileage, specification and availability. Explain where a buyer can arrange a viewing without implying an enquiry reserves the vehicle. If finance is promoted, have the business and its authorised provider check wording against current FCA requirements. Do not assume that a generic representative example is suitable for every advert. Check whether your stock provider permits the planned feed and what happens when it is unavailable. Keep a manual correction process for errors. Real photographs and clear disclosures help buyers assess the vehicle; neither a polished listing nor a feed connection replaces checking the underlying data.

Set an approval and privacy process

Decide who prepares posts and who approves them before publication. Check permission for identifiable people and any material owned by someone else. Keep customer records and sensitive conversations out of public content. Store approved images in an organised library with notes on permitted use, and remove material when permission is withdrawn where required. Scheduled posts still need checking when circumstances change. Avoid making claims about outcomes you cannot evidence. A consent or approval process is part of the work, not something to add after a complaint. Seek appropriate advice when legal or professional rules apply.
